"Sulley" from Pixar's "Monster's Inc" Costume

Hand-painted eyes, Sculpey teeth, horns & nose. Black mesh fabric inside the mouth to allow the wearer to see

Monster Costume commission

My original sketch before pattern drafting

Arms of design are elongated, so I added poles for the wearer to grip to be able to control the hands

Costume without the head

Acrylic sphere eyeballs, painted from the inside, Sculpey teeth, black mesh fabric in the mouth

Concept I did for a costume that I designed and fabricated for Zach Braff's movie "Wish I Was Here"

Finished costume (with alternate teeth). Used as a cosplay costume in a Comicon scene

Drafting the pattern for "Appa" the sky bison costume. (From the animated series "Avatar the Last Airbender")

For the head, I wrapped some of my kids stuffed animals with plastic wrap to approximate the shape & size.

I then wrapped that with plaster strips, and cut eye holes for the wearer

Then I cut the fur to form around the head

I placed the eyes as far away from each other as possible, while still allowing the wearer to see through the mesh fabric

Appa's finished head

Cutting the fur for the body suit

The completed Appa costume. Fabric covered foam for the "paws", with holes in the center for the wearer to still be able to use their hands

Two different colors of faux fur create Appa's unique stripes

"The Balrog" from The Lord of the Rings. One of 6 costumes within that theme that I made to win first prize in the Lucasfilm Costume Contest that year
